I could see that some of the electrolytic caps had already been replaced by the previous owner so before a complete alignment I tried a few quick alignment adjustments and found I was able to get more out of it than I was getting…it seemed very likely that a routine alignment might restore it to full performance.

In the case of my 755, I learned that one of the replacement caps I had put into it was bad! Evidently, they had plenty left over so they simply "grafted" a newer chassis into the cabinet to use them up.
